Specialist in office ergonomics. Burod’oc calls on Espaciel for the natural lighting of its premises. In this article, discover how Espaciel allowed the Burod’oc team to protect itself from the sun’s glare while maintaining quality natural lighting.
Burod’oc is a retailer of office furniture and an expert in the design of professional spaces. Its customers are located in Rouen and its region. Located in Darnétal, in the Rouen metropolis, Burod’oc’s premises are south-facing. The employees located next to the windows are directly exposed to the sun. For them, direct radiation is a source of discomfort that disrupts their work. As soon as the sun is shining, they close the shutters to protect themselves from the glare of the sun.
Colleagues further away from the windows appreciate the sunshine. They are not directly exposed to it and are not subject to the risk of glare. Closing the shutters deprives them of natural light. They have to turn on the light in full sunlight. The ultimate goal for a team dedicated to the well-being of its customers at work!
DESCRIPTION OF THE SOLUTION ENVISAGED
Marc Mercier, head of Burod’oc, and I are both members of Réseau Entreprendre. We met during an event of this entrepreneurs’ club in Brussels. Marc Mercier proposed me to study the natural lighting of his offices.
The solution proposed by Espaciel consists of screening the sun’s rays with the help of blinds while encouraging the circulation of natural light in the heart of the room with the help of Light Reflectors. This Blinds + Reflectors combination is particularly effective. Espaciel has made a new product called the Upstore Reflector. How does it work?
The upper part of the window is left free to allow daylight to enter. Above the manhole, Upstore Reflectors are placed in line. They propel natural light and sunlight into the heart of the workspace. Roller blinds are suspended under the Reflectors. They filter out daylight and sunlight. This allows the occupants to protect themselves from the glare of the sun.
The upper part of the window is the brightest part. It contributes the most to the natural lighting of a room. Placed high up, Espaciel Reflectors make the most of the window’s light output. By reverberation, they push the natural light towards the centre of the room. The luminosity glides over the ceiling and diffuses throughout the space for the well-being of the occupants.
In good weather, when the window is in full light, Burod’oc teams can protect themselves from the glare of the sun by lowering the blinds. Placed under the Reflectors, the blinds block out the sun’s rays. At the top of the window, above the blinds, natural light continues to enter through the window. The Upstore Reflectors push it deep into the office. The ceiling serves as a diffuser to distribute this light throughout the work space.
Perfectly integrated into the window, the UpStore system is discreet. In rolled up position, the blinds disappear at the back of the Upstore Reflector Upstore Reflectors support. In the unrolled position, the top of the window remains visible. The UpStore system maintains a view of the outside. Contact with the outside is maintained. This is appreciable. This avoids the feeling of enclosure usually associated with the presence of blinds.
Protecting yourself from the sun’s glare while taking advantage of natural light to illuminate yourself is no longer a contradiction in terms. The Upstore Reflector developed by Espaciel provides the winning combination of the blind and the Reflector to manage natural lighting in offices. The Rouen-based company Burod’oc has understood this and has equipped itself for its premises. The partnership goes further, as Burod’oc wants to offer the UpStore Reflector to its professional customers.
