The sky is visible but far away, at the very top… and the sun never goes down.
I live in a Parisian triplex in the 17th arrondissement. The living room is on the ground floor, kitchen and bathroom on the 1st floor and on the 2nd floor are the bedrooms. An artist at heart, I decorated my living room with an 18th century inspired fresco. But the wall of the building across the street is only 2-3 meters away. The sun never comes down to my bay window so the light has a hard time getting into my house… My living room was very dark and my fresco was not highlighted. A few weeks ago, I started looking for a solution!
I wanted something efficient, without having to do any work and also that it be discreet because I live in a condominium. And then the days started to get shorter, I wanted a solution to spend the winter with good light at home… and not to get depressed!
How did you discover the light reflector?
I was actively searching the internet and blogs. At one point, I typed into my search engine words like “Dark Dwelling” and “Ground Floor” and that’s when I discovered the Espaciel light reflectors.

I was able to speak directly with a lighting consultant because I had a few questions before finalizing my purchase. Especially about maintenance: can the reflectors be easily cleaned? Is it necessary to buy a product? Jérémie de Espaciel, whom I got on the phone, reassured me by telling me that my usual window product would be fine, with a simple soft cloth.

I received my light reflectors one week after my order, as indicated on the site. Very well packed, I was surprised to see the finesse of the Espaciel reflectors. It’s true it’s light: you expect it to be heavy as a mirror, but it’s not. It’s really quite different. After receiving my packages, I contacted the installer that Espaciel put me in touch with. He came to install my four reflectors the following weekend. It lasted about two hours. He was well equipped, and came with his drill, because the wall reflectors screw into the wall. It has slightly shifted the reflector from below, thanks to the kit provided, so that it is well under the sky and not in the shadow of the one above.
Together we adjusted the inclination of the reflectors so that the light from the sky enters to the bottom of the room. They fit in well and, what’s more, they were well accepted by my condo because they fold up and disassemble easily. I even think my upstairs neighbor is going to get an Espaciel… To be continued!
It’s a real pleasure to be able to admire my fresco all day long. With or without sunshine I no longer need to turn on a lamp to contemplate it. To best reflect the light in my living room, I chose a precise tilt angle of 45° to illuminate the top of the room.
Another positive point of the Espaciel reflectors is the reflection of the sky on the surface. When you have a building opposite, usually you see a simple, inert, grey wall… There with my light reflectors, I see the sky inside, the passing clouds, the blue immensity (on good weather days of course!). It’s beautiful, it’s relaxing. The court too is coming alive again and I feel at home.
