Advantages and disadvantages of a first floor flat

A first floor flat is easily accessible. There are only one or two flights of stairs to climb to reach a first floor flat. It is also protected from rising damp and benefits from the ground floor heating.

On the other hand, a first floor flat is directly above the shops on level zero. This can cause a nuisance. Also, is there enough light on the first floor?

I have less light than on the 3rd floor

A 1st floor flat is often darker than a 3rd or 4th floor flat. In Paris, in Haussmann buildings, this phenomenon is accentuated by the presence of the balcony on the 2nd floor.
