Residential neighbourhoods, often located close to a city centre, are pleasant places to live. The peace and quiet, unlike city centres, contribute to additional comfort. However, a lack of brightness can be felt on the ground floor since houses can have 2 or 3 floors while being very close to each other. Here is Debbie’s testimony, she lives near London and had a dark kitchen. She finally found a solution to remedy this a few months ago with Espaciel .
Background on Debbie’s situation
How is your house and the room you wanted to light?
Hi, I’m Debbie, I live in a house in the Greater London area (North East London). The natural lighting in my kitchen, located on the ground floor, has always been a problem since I’ve lived here (3 years). I have a window, facing west, overlooking an outside passage that connects my garden to the street. The sunlight reaches my window in the afternoon, but the fence and the house just across the street blocks the daylight and sunlight. As a result, my kitchen was dark from morning to night.
Have you considered other solutions to bring more light into your kitchen?
Good natural light is really important to me in my everyday life. I wanted a bright kitchen because it is an important part of the house where I spend a lot of time. For these reasons, I thought about doing some work to get more light in the kitchen, but I couldn’t find an appropriate and easy solution .
Control and installation of light reflectors
How did you discover Espaciel and which product did you choose?
I discovered Espaciel for the first time on Facebook, I then went to their website and talked with an advisor. As requested, Jérémie sent me more information by email about the light reflector. We exchanged several emails as well as pictures to find out which solution would be the best for my kitchen. The advice given by Espaciel is great, they really care about our needs.
My window is not compatible with a standard exterior reflector because the left window pane opens outwards and not inwards as in France. Instead of a 1m reflector, Jérémie recommended 2 smaller reflectors of 45 cm x 25 cm, i.e. 1 per window, with 2 specific fixing kits. This way, the reflectors fixed on the frame of each window do not disturb the opening towards the outside.
How did the order and installation in London go?
It was easy to order on the Espaciel website, I did it online after a phone call to be sure of the process, then they confirmed my order by email.
Delivery to the UK was made by Alexi and Jeremie in January 2016. They had planned a business trip for several appointments here in London. It was the perfect opportunity for them to come and install the products at my place. The reflectors are installed outside the kitchen window, the installation was quick and easy. I was also very happy to meet Alexi and Jeremie.
And now, what’s the result?
I saw an improvement right away, which was very appreciable. The reflectors give me more natural light and that cheers me up every day! Overall, they work very well and bring extra light into the room. The result is better on sunny days as supposed, but I still get more light when it’s grey.
Any last words?
I am satisfied with the product and my experience with Espaciel: efficient and helpful staff, fast service, easy installation and more light, which is great! I would have no hesitation in recommending Espaciel and its product to anyone interested in a project similar to mine. To tell you the truth, I’ve already given the Espaciel card to my neighbours!
